COSTA RICA BUSINESS NEWS — The Superintendencia de Telecomunicaciones (SUTEL) has failed to implement the rule requiring a decrease in the annual percentage of tariffs for regulated services, reports El Financiero.
According to the Regulations on Tariff Setting of the General Telecommunications Act, the regulator must, each year, reduce prices by a certain percentage to reflect increased operator efficiency.
However, Sutel has made no steps forward in the process since opening the market five years ago.
The regulator has not set prices for either post-paid mobile internet and fixed internet services, as mandated by the regulations.
